We stand and act in that moment when the ‘present’ becomes the ‘past’. The result of this passing collects behind us as our history.

The space we reach across between ourselves and the surface of the canvas is always a unique ‘life-size’ point of extraordinary, intimate and personal contact.
Any contact with the world beyond our immediate grasp and reach instantly becomes less than ‘life size’.

Equipped with colour, materials, and the language marks can make. Ever aware of the need for an inner focus to be able to renew and expand our visual language, the course will make a journey in and through this “in between” space exploring the possibilities of meaning within the language of non-figurative/abstract painting.

Our studio based activities will be supported by extensive reference to contemporary and historical practice.

The course is open to all with abundant curiosity, an open mind and open heart.

David Cobb (born 1946, Bexley, South East London). Formerly lecturer in Fine Art and course leader of the Foundation Course in Art & Design at the City of Bath College, Bath England. Now resident and working in Denmark since 2006. David Cobb understands Danish, but preferably speaks English. The teaching is therefore conducted in English.
